About Me
I'm the founder of Sri Sarjana Online Tuition and I am currently teaching PT3 Science and SPM Physics to students nationwide. Additionally, I lecture at the Bank Rakyat School of Business, Innovation, Technology & Entrepreneurship at Universiti Tun Abdul Razak. On top of that, I am currently pursuing my PhD at Universiti Malaya.
Personal Background
I was born in beautiful Kuching, Sarawak in 2001 to two respectable teachers. I have always been an ambitious boy. I have attempted countless business projects in my lifetime, as early as the age of 13, hoping to achieve something on my own. Although there were many failures, I have learnt invaluable lessons that were able to propel me to today's successes.
Education
I started my primary studies at a local Chinese school, SJK(C) Chung Hua Bt 4 1/2. I am able to converse, read and write in English, Mandarin, and Bahasa Melayu fluently. I was able to build a strong foundation in the English language as I often won school-level competitions and had the opportunity to represent the school in story-telling, choral speaking, public speaking, writing competitions and more. I continued my secondary studies at SMK Batu Lintang in the Pure Sciences stream. Throughout the five years, I was able to establish myself as an English debater, representing the school to various international-level tournaments. Apart from that, I was active in co-curricular activities which led me to being awarded President of the Best Club & Society in 2018.
I am an avid academician with First Class Honours at University of the West of England (BA) & Taylor’s University (BBus) specialising in Finance & Economics, and an MBA at University of Bedfordshire specialising in Marketing. Currently, I am pursuing my Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) at Universiti Malaya (Asia-Europe Institute) conducting research in marketing and consumer behaviour in Malaysia and the greater ASEAN region.
Breakthrough Junior Challenge
In 2017, while I was in Form 4, I came across the Breakthrough Junior Challenge organised by Breakthrough Initiatives (awarding body of Breakthrough Prize). The challenge was launched globally, inviting schoolchildren to submit 3-minute videos explaining a concept in Physics, Biology, Chemistry and Mathematics. I submitted my video on the Principle of Electromagnetic Induction, explaining the works of Michael Faraday and I ended up being one of the Top 10% Challengers globally. In 2019, I participated once again under the same topic and ended up being one of the Top 20% Challengers globally. Throughout the journey, I was able to come across many promising and bright future talents in Science around the world.
Debating
Since 2015, I have participated in debating tournaments across the country of various levels. Coming from a city with little debating activity, I had to fly across into the Klang Valley almost every fortnight to participate in tournaments. Throughout the journey, I was able to rake in several championships, speaker awards and experience in coaching and judging. In 2021, I was able to launch my self-developed Public Speaking, Debating & Critical Analysis (PSDCA) Program to train students in the art of speaking and persuasion. In its first year, I was able to conduct three classes of 30+ students from Malaysia and Singapore.
Entrepreneurship & Teaching
I am the Founder and Principal at Sri Sarjana Education Group (W.M.) who saw the opening of three physical tuition centre branches in Klang Valley, and its online learning wing at Sri Sarjana Online Tuition, which caters to Primary 3-Form 5 students nationwide. I conduct UPSR English, PT3 Science, PT3 Geografi, SPM Physics & SPM Science lessons on top of being the Head Coach of the Public Speaking, Debate & Public Speaking (PSDCA) program for students across Malaysia & Singapore. I manage day-to-day operations of over 50 staff and tutors and oversee over 100 classes weekly, serving over 800 students.
Tuition Centre Chain
The first branch of Sri Sarjana Education Group in West Malaysia, located in Bandar Kinrara, Puchong. It first open its doors in 2019, bringing in students from the neighborhoods of Puchong and Bukit Jalil. The location features five state-of-the-art classrooms managed by a team of around ten tutors.
In less than two years, I was able to expand across Klang Valley to a second branch in Setia Alam, Shah Alam. The Setia Alam outlet has officially opened its doors in January 2021.
As of 2024, the online tuition wing of the group has also managed to guide 1,500+ students to success across Malaysia.
Online Tutoring
When the COVID-19 pandemic first hit in March 2020, I was able to swiftly respond to it by setting up a robust online tutoring infrastructure. Until today, I have successfully acquired students from every state in Malaysia and international students from Singapore. Using cutting edge education technology that I have developed, students are able to have an effective studying environment online. Apart from weekly online classes, I have also organised various LIVE workshops, uploaded videos on YouTube and TikTok and have spoken at online seminars.
Academia
Apart from pursuing my PhD, I also lecture at the Bank Rakyat School of Business, Innovation, Technology & Entrepreneurship of Universiti Tun Abdul Razak in business and management subjects for diploma and undergraduate students. I am a Google Certified Educator.
I am also a member of several professional organisations, including the Chartered Institute of Marketing, Institute of Marketing Malaysia, Malaysian Institute of Management, Australian Marketing Institute, Academy of Marketing Science, Sarawak Research Society, British Academy of Management, and more.
